city2science was invited to hold a workshop on science communication within the “Science, Ethics, Politics Day” on february 3, 2017 at the Max Planck Institute for Infection Biology in Berlin.
After giving an introductory talk (“From Deficit to Dialogue to Democracy – Trends and Best Practice in Science Communication and Public Engagement”), Annette Klinkert used the world café format to engage the scientists in discussions regarding the five following topics: “CRISPR/CAS Genome Editing”, “Vaccination”, “Homeopathy“, Science Festival Presentation und City Council Meeting.
The task for the scientists was to put oneself in the position of different target groups and adapt the communication strategy or format according to the respective traget group.
