Since the beginning of the year, we have again been given the opportunity to hold numerous workshops in the field of Science Communication and Public Engagement. The encounters with young scientists are an inspiration and enrichment for our work. Since the beginning of the year, we have conducted eight training sessions for the University of Regensburg, the Hamburg Research Academy, the University of Duisburg-Essen, the Technical University of Munich, and the Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf.

The most common is an “Introduction to Science Communication and Public Engagement”, sometimes in German, sometimes in English, but there have also been some thematically new workshops, such as a writing workshop with a focus on storytelling with economists from the University of Duisburg-Essen, a public engagement training with a focus on storytelling with scientists from the TU Munich, a social media workshop for female scientists only with a focus on “networking in social media”, and a workshop specifically on science communication formats for the Citizens University of the Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf.

The majority of public engagement trainings continue to take place online, but for the second half of the year, trainings in presence are planned again in Berlin, Bayreuth, Potsdam, Erfurt during a summer school for PhD students of the German Academic Scholarship Foundation, in Bochum and Plankstetten.
