“Start the Dialogue, Open Up Science!” This was the motto of an interdisciplinary Public Engagement Training city2science conducted in Madrid on 14 November 2018.

We started the workshop with an with input session on trends in Science Communication, RRI and Open Science followed by an interactive session in which the participants reflected upon the benefits of communication and the role of researchers within society.

After lunch we gave some practical input with Best Practice Examples of Science-Society Dialogues and Science Engagement activities across Europe.

The last session was a practical prototyping of stakeholder-engagement processes. The researchers designed a dialogue-oriented idea for their research topic. Within this task they had to think about which stakeholders to involve, which target groups to reach and what formats to apply.

It was great to see the next generation of academics be so actively involved in Public Engagement!
