From coexistence to co-creation

On August 24, 2023, city2science organized an interactive training event at the University Medical Centre Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE), focusing on science communication and public engagement. The day began with a warm welcome and introduction, followed by discussions on contemporary trends in Public Engagement, Science Communication, and Open Innovation. The concept of transitioning from coexistence to co-creation through stakeholder collaboration was explored. After a coffee break, crafting effective communication strategies took the stage.

And the World Cafe

The afternoon featured insights into the do’s and don’ts of successful science communication, followed by hands-on exercises to develop communication and engagement strategies. The day’s highlight was a dynamic World Cafe session, during which participants collaboratively devised three distinct Science Communication scenarios tailored for patients and the general public at UKE. This interactive segment allowed for rich discussions and cross-pollination of ideas. The event concluded with reflections, open discussions, and an inspired outlook, empowering attendees to skilfully bridge the gap between scientific endeavours, stakeholders and citizens.
