We are delighted about the in-depth cover story on the Future Science Concept and the opportunity to share our perspectives on knowledge-based urban development. In the current feature “Science for a City in Transition,” Joscha Brünnich and Annette Klinkert discuss how science, innovation, and urban society can work together to make Wolfsburg a resilient and future-ready city.
From September 2022 to April 2025, our city2science team, together with science manager Iris Klaßen and the consultancy Heinze und Partner, supported the development of the Future Science Concept. Between May 2023 and April 2025, six dialogue modules were held, actively involving representatives from universities, industry, city administration, culture, and civil society—contributing to the formulation of concrete goals, key fields of action, and new project ideas.
👉 The report and interview highlight a central message: science is a driving force for urban development. And Wolfsburg demonstrates how bold alliances and clear strategic processes can unleash transformative power! We are grateful for the opportunity to coordinate this exciting process.
