„Thinking outside the box“ in Bochum: we have been supporting the process of developping a “House of Knowledge” in Bochum since summer 2019. Opening in 2026, the multifunctional building will combine the city library, an adult education centre, the UniverCity network representing 5 universities and a market hall under one roof. The city envisions an open, metropolitan meeting place that sets standards for lifelong learning, discoveries and innovative collaborations. During the workshops we facilitated we have been happy and inspired to see ideas come alive in Mural boards and to listen to dynamic dialogues among the diverse colleagues who will be working together in this special place!
Impressions of the evolving co-cration space
An EU wide architectural competition shows how the transformation of the former postal office to an inner city meeting place might look like. The proposal of CROSS Architecture – „One house for all“ wins. It puts the users at the center and even designed the roof garden as a space for exploration and learning.
Digital Co-Creation Workshop
On June 2 we were invited to facilitate a workshop to develop ideas for the future “house of knowlegde” in Bochum! The interactive virtual workspace included 35 stakeholders from science, education, economy and municipality, who came together for the first time. The interdisciplinary gathering focused on the conversion and transformation of a former post office across Bochum’s city hall into a swirling social meeting place and dynamic innovation ecosystem.
