Project Description

From September 2021 to March 2022, city2science supported the European university alliance “COLOURS” coordinated by University of Paderborn in the application process within the framework of the “European Universities” call. “COLOURS” stands for COLlaborative innOvative sUstainable Regional univerSities. The seven universities aim to jointly strengthen their European network, increase their international visibility and promote mobility within Europe. In addition to the University of Paderborn, the alliance includes the University of Le Mans (France), the University of Castilla-La Mancha (Spain), the University of Ferrara (Italy), the University of Kristianstad (Sweden), Jan Dlugosz University (Poland) and Josip Jurai Strossmayer University Osijek (Croatia). Together, they represent about 120,000 students and nearly 12,000 employees.

The strategy outlined in the 120-page proposal was developed jointly by all partners in a co-creative process. At its core is the goal of working together in a multidisciplinary way to address current societal challenges. All COLOURS partners are closely linked to their regional socio-political and economic environment. Therefore, strengthening the relationships of the seven universities with actors from their regional innovation ecosystems is the focus of the jointly developed vision. With a challenge-based approach to teaching, research, and knowledge and technology transfer, the partners aim to leverage synergies by intensifying collaboration at all levels. For example, the alliance plans to develop new attractive offerings for virtual and physical mobility and to create joint study and teaching activities in the long term. Students will be involved in the design and development of all activities within the alliance.

In 2019, city2science already accompanied the application development of the European Higher Education Alliance “ENHANCE” coordinated by TU Berlin. The application was successful and the alliance, consisting of seven technical universities in Europe could celebrate its launch on March 12, 2022, moderated by city2science.
